How Business Creates Value:
By providing positive perspectives for our youth, we are shaping our future employees, business owners, and leaders.
How Member Creates Value:
As an executive in both for profit and for benefit of organizations, I understand the complexity of delivering a mission while running a business. I donate, advise and participate in this cause.
What I Do.
Chair of the President's Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County
As Chair, I am a community liaison on a mission to work in partnership with community leaders who share a commitment to the our mission. I am an ambassador, participant, donor and committee member dedicated to matching every "Little who wants a Big with a Big".
As an executive recruiter, my profession reinforces the common theme one-to-one mentoring, partnership and development.
Why I Do It.
I've had a mentor or two or three in my life and as you read this, I hope you can think of a few as well. I truly believe every child deserves a mentor in their lives and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County provides this to youth who might otherwise not have this presence in their lives. Our mission is "provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever."
Most important is what is does for the children and their community. Children who participate in our programs are:
more confident in their schoolwork performance
able to get along better with their families
46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
27% less likely to begin using alcohol
52% less likely to skip school.
And I refer to this often, it is the "power of 10". For every life we impact in a positive way, 10 additional lives are impacted as well. That's motivation!
