Joy Funk
Business Name:
Rewild Tribe
Business Description:
Nature-based healing, wellness, retreat, and grief support experiences designed to foster grounding, restoration, and meaningful connection. Joy Funkhouser is the Founder of Rewild Tribe and the Wellness & Retreat Facilitator for TEAM Conejo Valley Business Connections, as well as a writer, grief coach, certified forest bathing guide, meditation teacher, and trauma-informed ocean and surf therapy facilitator. She serves the Conejo Valley community and surrounding areas through nature-based, nervous-system-centered wellness experiences rooted in restoration, regulation, and reconnection. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and is currently a graduate student pursuing an M.A. in Counseling, with practicum training in progress. Her work is informed by trauma-informed principles and an integrative foundation of psychology, somatic awareness, grief education, and sensory-based nervous system regulation practices. Through Rewild Tribe, Joy offers forest bathing experiences, meditation practices, sound bath ceremonies, women’s circles, grief support groups, and individualized grief coaching. Her sessions are intentionally tailored to each client, creating an inviting space grounded in warmth, safety, and acceptance. Whether held in a forest, by the ocean, or in more traditional settings, her intention is to support clients in feeling more regulated, grounded, and restored. Her most integrative work takes place in nature under a canopy of trees or near water, where she facilitates immersive experiences that reconnect individuals to presence, interconnectedness, and the natural rhythms of healing. Through the profound loss of her daughter, Lacey Grace, Joy’s lived experience became a foundational part of her grief work. This journey informs her compassionate approach to bereavement support, particularly for those navigating complex and ongoing grief. Her work supports clients in learning to live alongside loss with meaning, embodiment, and continued connection. Within TEAM Conejo Valley Business Connections, Joy serves as the chapter’s wellness and retreat facilitator, offering curated, experiential programming that integrates forest bathing, sound, meditation, and ocean-based sensory regulation practices. Joy draws inspiration from the intimacy of the forest, the rhythm of the ocean, and the resilience found within lived experience. She is also the author of Lacey’s Grace, a memoir and novel honoring her daughter’s life, light, and enduring legacy.
