Root and Soul

Root & Soul Acupuncture is an integrative Chinese medicine practice in La Mesa serving the greater San Diego area. Founded by Dr. Mama Shani Cooper, DACM, L.Ac., the practice provides acupuncture, herbal medicine and AcuDoula support for fertility, IVF, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, hormonal health, chronic pain, digestive concerns and nervous system regulation. Root & Soul combines the precision of Chinese medicine with deeply personalized care that recognizes the body as intelligent, not broken. Every treatment plan is shaped by the individual’s constitution, symptoms, season of life and goals.

Root & Soul helps people understand what their bodies are communicating and gives them a clear, individualized path forward. The practice complements care from reproductive specialists, OB-GYNs, midwives, primary care providers and other members of a client’s healthcare team. Clients receive more than acupuncture. They receive continuity, education and a practitioner who considers the complete picture, including symptoms, cycles, digestion, sleep, stress, medical care and major life transitions. Whether someone is preparing for IVF, navigating pregnancy, recovering after birth, struggling with hormonal symptoms or managing chronic pain, Root & Soul provides care that helps them feel supported, informed and actively involved in their health.
