Skyler McCurine's Practice offers a trauma-informed, human-centered comprehensive financial planning. Clients usually knock on my door for two reasons: 1) They are ready to change advisors because they are not having their needs met and need a different human being who sees them on a deeper level understanding the nuances / intersections of their identity, independence, individual financial complexities, 2) A activating event brought them to it (a loss of a loved one, sale / loss of a home, divorce, complexities of a new partnership, caregiving alone, being fired from a job, etc) My clients and I sit on the same side of the table, alleviating their overwhelm in investing, planning and quite frankly, the procrastination in confronting what can feel like a daunting list of to-dos when trying to take care of their finances. Finance is one of the most emotional components of one's life. When a Financial Advisor can hold clients by their feet, re-rooting them to their own ground, at times lovingly disagreeing with them, and hold them accountable you are able to undo/ rewrite generational patterns around money. My practice has enabled clients to accomplish what they once believed was impossible: retire early, retire at all, discover assets they forgot, purchase property, create breathe and space in their marriage, ensure their families now know what aging and dying with dignity on their terms means and where their assets are... among many other things. Albert Einstein once said "Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it. He who doesn't, pays it," -- It is time, far past the time that the earning of that interest be spread like butter on toast --filling in every gap, crevice and corner so that everyone receives its reward, not just those who have all of the bread.
