Aloha Kakou! I'm Kawika Hoke, CEO & Executive Producer at Laulima Studios. Laulima is the first to produce large-budget Hawaiian-owned television in 40 years. A little bit about me... Raised in North County. My family left Maui to serve in the USMC and Navy in California, where I was allowed to grow up in the middle of the entertainment industry; from High School, where I started as a student employee lighting technician, stage designer, and stage manager - directly to Disney Theme Parks Entertainment both in and out of costume my Senior year. My curiosity led me to shift gears and reach out to an Executive Producer on a cold call to become the Marketing & Social Media Manager of the Hawaiian fan favorite Kuleana, which put me on the trajectory to move back to Maui and try my hand at starting a Kanaka-owned studio aimed at representing Hawaii on screen without corporate Hollywood interference and providing jobs beyond tourism. My most current project in distribution is the six episode comedy pilot Moku Moku Moku Moku is a new comedy television series set in the heart of Maui. This show follows the adventures of three best friends as they navigate the challenges and joys of everyday life on the island. Through humor and heart, Moku Moku explores themes like identity, late-stage capitalism, and the high cost of living in paradise. Moku Moku, is now streaming on Amazon ( https://amzn.to/49vTxU9 ), flying as in-flight entertainment on Hawaiian Airlines, and coming to Tubi this fall. It also premieres on primetime television on Mondays at 7 p.m. on K5 Hawaii. Moku Moku has grown a cult following across America as more Hawaiians live in the continental United States than Hawaii and because of that, Laulima is currently seeking businesses that want to tap into a niche market that puts them in the hands of tourists visiting Hawaii and Hawaiians living throughout the diaspora. We currently offer a limited advertising package inventory incorporating analog impressions, digital referrals, social funnels, and affiliate links, as well as opportunities to invest in in-development productions such as television, live theater, streaming, and theatrical movie content.
