Business Description:
nvestEd brings real world financial literacy education directly into elementary school classrooms. We serve 4th and 5th grade students through an engaging 10 week program that teaches saving, budgeting, banking, credit, investing, and long term financial decision making.
Our lessons are hands on, age appropriate, and aligned with California academic standards in math and language arts. Students do not just learn definitions. They practice making choices, setting goals, reading financial information, writing about money decisions, and working together through The Stock Market Game and InvestWrite.
InvestEd is currently serving students in Long Beach Unified School District and is a registered LBUSD vendor.
How Business Creates Value:
nvestEd helps schools give students practical financial skills at an age when money habits are beginning to form. Many students receive little or no financial education at home, and teachers often do not have the time or resources to build a full financial literacy program from scratch.
We make it easy for schools to offer a meaningful program with minimal lift from classroom teachers. Our curriculum supports existing academic goals while giving students confidence with real life money concepts.
The value reaches beyond the classroom. Students bring these conversations home, ask better questions, and begin seeing themselves as capable future earners, savers, investors, and decision makers.
How Member Creates Value:
As the founder of InvestEd, I bring together my background in finance, education, nonprofit work, and local school involvement. I am a former Vice President in private client banking, a substitute teacher, and a longtime PTA leader in Long Beach schools.
I created InvestEd because I saw a real gap between what children are expected to understand as adults and what they are actually taught in school. My role is to make financial literacy approachable, engaging, and realistic for young students.
I also help connect schools, parents, community partners, and sponsors who believe that children deserve access to practical financial education early in life.
Why Financial Literacy Matters Early
Children start forming beliefs about money long before they become adults. By elementary school, they are already noticing spending, saving, fairness, wants, needs, and opportunity.
InvestEd gives students a safe and encouraging place to learn these concepts before money decisions become high pressure. We teach students that financial literacy is not just about being rich. It is about having choices, understanding consequences, and building confidence.
When students learn these skills early, they are better prepared to manage money, advocate for themselves, and imagine a stronger future.
Who We Want to Connect With
InvestEd is looking to connect with school leaders, PTA and PTO groups, local businesses, banks, financial professionals, grant makers, and community members who care about student success.
We are especially interested in partnerships that help bring financial literacy to more elementary students in Long Beach. Schools can use InvestEd as a classroom enrichment program, and businesses or individuals can sponsor classrooms so cost is not a barrier.
A great referral is a principal, teacher, PTA leader, corporate giving contact, foundation representative, or local business owner who wants to support practical education for children.
