The Big Do’s and Don’ts of Social Media

The Big Do’s and Don’ts of Social Media

DO:
• Pick a username people are likely to search for.
• Use a profile photo that shows your face clearly.
• Write a bio with keywords and some personal interests.
• Post content relevant to buyers that demonstrates your expertise.
• When sharing content on Facebook, always include a link or image.
• Post some personal content, especially about your community activities.
• Engage with your audience—respond to comments, post to groups, start Twitter conversations.
• Adjust settings to approve tagged photos before they’re made public.
• Post a few times a week—a few times a day on Twitter.
DON’T:
• Sell—though you can occasionally include a call to action.
• Brag—share accomplishments and testimonials, but stay humble.
• Vent about life or business.
• Mention politics or religion.
• Create a personal page as a business page; this violates Facebook policy.
• Make your profile photo a selfie.
• Post photos where you appear inebriated (eyes half closed, drink in hand).
• Make your business profile private; it looks like you’re not being transparent.
• Share information you don’t want made public.
Here’s to your social media marketing success, as you put together your best year ever… Enjoy a great month!

I was drawn to their “building customers for life” philosophy as I work hard to make sure my clients know my job does not end when their loan closes. I make myself available for those questions that come up AFTER closing and to help them with future purchases/refinances to help them reach their financial goals. I’ve been in the mortgage industry over 20 years – I love my job and hope that comes across when I’m working with you.
